Services for J.D. Allison will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Primrose Chapel in Norman. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday. Primrose Funeral Service is handling arrangements.

Mr. Allison was born July 9, 1920, in Sayre, to John Marvin and Ethel Maude Harrison Allison. He graduated from Noble High School. He was a communication specialist in the Coast Guard aboard the USS Sterope for three years during World War II. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he received bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Mr. Allison was a career educator. He taught for 36 years and 25 of those were for Norman Public Schools. He served as a deacon for First Baptist Church of Norman. He married Betty Wolf Johnson Aug. 5, 1955, in Norman. The couple had three daughters. Mr. Allison loved his children, grandchildren, gardening and being outdoors. He also enjoyed reading, especially the Bible.

Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Allison; brothers Vernon and Olson Allison; and wife Betty.

Mr. Allison is survived by his brother Carroll Allison of Noble; sisters Thelma Wright of Norman and Dorothy Neal of Noble; daughters Kathy Foster and husband Larry of Norman. Beth Abbott and husband David of Lilburn, Ga., and Jalyn Burns and husband Steve of Aledo, Texas and grandchildren Amy and Anna Abbott, Brian and Allison Burns and Joshua and Hannah Foster.
