Evalyn Cralle Bond, 93, a lifelong Norman resident, died
Tuesday May 9, at Norman Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at
Mayes Chapel of Remembrance, with Dr. Lavonn Brown
officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home until 11 a.m. Saturday.
She was born to Edgar Lee Cralle and Nora Lee Brown
Cralle on Oct. 1, 1901, at the present site of Norman,
in Indian Territory. She graduated from Norman High School
in 1920, and the University of Oklahoma in 1925. She was
executive secretary of the Cleveland County Red Cross
chapter for seven years and taught in Norman Public Schools
for 15 years.
She was a member of the Cleveland County Red Cross, the
Oklahoma Heritage Center, the Oklahoma and Cleveland County
Historical Societies, the Oklahoma and Cleveland County
Retired Teachers Associations, a former member of a Business
and Professional Women's group, the Norman Art League and
the Firehouse Art Center. She also was a member of the OU
Alumni Association and a longtime member of the First
Baptist Church.
She was an avid OU football and basketball fan, and loved her
family, church, art, music and flowers.
She is survived by a daughter, Irene Cook of Norman, a son Dr.
Eugene Bond and his wife, Chris, of Everett, Wash.; nine
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Evalyn
Bond Oakes; a brother, E.W. Cralle; and two sisters, Edith Cralle
and Zella Hybarger.
Bearers will be Kevin Newton, Paul Reeves, O.T. McCall and
Luke Munn, Honorary bearers will be Ken Farris, Dr. Rick McCurdy,
Dr. John McCarter, Dr. Phil Linnemann, Gaiser Maddox, Dr. O.J.
Talley, Gene Amspatcher, Orion Burkett, Grover Bratcher, Neal
Harris and Joe Duncan.
At her request, the family has asked that memorial contributions
be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Heart Fund, 825
N.E. 13th, Oklahoma City, Ok 73104; the American Red Cross,
1205 Halley Ave., Norman, Ok 73069 or the church or charity of the
donor's choice.
