Margaret Terrell Collums, 101, died Friday, Sept. 12. in Casper,
Wyo. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial
Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Guardian North Funeral Home in
Oklahoma City is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Collums was born June 16, 1902, in Chickasha in Indian
Territory, to James C. and Clara Whiteman Terrell. She married
Garner G. Collums May 30, 1922, in Chickasha. She worked in
the USO during World War II after her husband was transferred
to China. Mr. Collums was in the Army Air Corps. Mrs. Collums
served in the USO in San Diego and Shreveport, La. She attended
Emory University in Atlanta. She was initiated into Alphi Chi Omega
sorority in 1921. She then graduated with a degree in music from
Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She taught after
World War II in Norman Public Schools and started University
Travel Service, Norman's first travel service. She traveled
extensively and took several cruises around the world. She lived
in Casper the past 10 years.
Mrs. Collums is survived by her son, James D. Collums of Casper;
grandsons, Gary G. and James S. Collums of Casper; granddaughter,
Christi C. Doyle of Las Vegas; and seven great-grandchildren.
