Helen M. Cosgrove, 82, Norman died Monday, Feb. 5, at her home.
The Mass Of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, at
St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with the Rev. C. Joseph Meinhart
as celebrant. Burial will be at the St. Jospeh Catholic Cemetery, under
the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends at Primrose Funeral Service from
7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Helen M. Cosgrove, 82, Norman died Monday, Feb. 5 at her home
in Norman. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Thursday, at St. Thomas More Church, with the Rev. C. Joseph
Meinhart as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic
Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
Mrs. Cosgrove was born Oct. 23, 1913, in Zaleski, Ohio, to Timothy
and Agnes Moriarty. She graduated magna cum laude from Ohio
University with a B.S. in education in 1934, and a master's degree
in 1940. She taught in the Athens, Ohio, elementary school sysyem
until moving to Oklahoma in 1942. She married Augustin Cosgrove
in June 1942, and moved to Norman. She taught third grade at McKinley
and Jackson elementary schools from 1954 until her retirement in
1979. In 1965, she was selected as Oklahoma's Teacher of the Year.
She loved animals and flowers, especially in her retirement years.
Mrs. Cosgrove is survived by her husband, Augustin, of the home;
a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Cosgrove, MD and Loyd Thayer, MD
of Ardmore; a brother, Bernard Moriarty of Dayton, Ohio; and by
Allan Keon of Sacramento, Calif.; who she considered a son.
Honary bearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Glen Snider, Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Merritt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Olney Sr, Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Pool, Mr and Mrs. C.F. Moore Jr., Mrs. June Wood, Dr. and Mrs.
Richard Harrison, Dr. and Mrs. Anthony Lis, Mr. David Smith,
Dr. Lester Reed and Mr. Clyde Hardisty.
The family will receive friends at Primrose Funeral Service from
7 to 9 tonight.
