Mrs. Dave (Dorothy McCall) Cruse, 78, a Norman resident all her life, died early today in Norman Municipal Hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Doak officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery with Mayes Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cruse, the last surviving member of the immediate family of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel King McCall, a prominent early-day family, was born Sept. 9, 1903, in Norman. She attended Norman schools and was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. She had been a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority at OU. She was a retired school teacher, had taught fifth grade at McKinley school for many years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include four nephews, Sam, Lew and Tom McCall, all of Norman, and Hal L. Fitzpatrick of Austin, Texas; and two nieces, Mrs. Mary Clyde Flesher of Edmond and Patsy Olson of Canyon, Texas.

Bearer will be grand-nephews, Steve, Jim and Skay McCall, Tom and Baker Flesher and Jim Ashford.

The family has designated the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation as appropriate for memorial contributions.

I can still recite The Daffodils and a large chunk of The Village Blacksmith from memory. I taught my kids how to draw a swan. My favorite was the class field trip to see the possum that had taken up residence in her backyard.
