Ruth M. McReynolds, 81, 1501 Lincoln St., a member of the
Norman Public Housing Authority and former Norman school
teacher for 19 years, died early this morning in Norman Municipal
Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Services are pending with Primrose Funeral Home.
Mrs. McReynolds was appointed to the Norman Public Housing
Authority in 1975 and was serving her second term.
She attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and
received her teaching degree from Central State College, Edmond.
She had taught school in Kaw City, Oklahoma City and as a
graduate assistant at Central State College.
In 1943 she was employed by Moore Public Schools when her
late husband, Edwin, came to OU to work on a doctorate degree.
She was employed by the Norman Public School system in 1945
and taught first grade at Jefferson School for 19 years before her
retirement in 1964 after 32 years of teaching.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1946,
the Women's Circle No. 7, Sierra Club and the Retired Teachers
Association.
Survivors include a son, Earl Edwin of Friendswood, Texas; a
daughter, Mrs. Truman (Ruth) D. Hayes of LaCrosse, Wis.; a
sister, Mrs. Edith Bowman of Union Bridge, Md.; 11 grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren.
