Services for Nelda Nebergall, 66, Norman, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday
at the University Lutheran Chapel under the direction of Mayes Funeral
Directors. The Rev. David Klumpp will officiate and burial will be in
the IOOF Cemetery.
Mrs. Nebergall died Friday, Jan. 19, in Norman Regional Hospital
after an extended illness.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1923, in Dallas, Texas to Robert and
Vivian Bernard. In 1941, she graduated from Sherman High School in
Sherman, Texas and in 1945, joined the U.S. Marine corps.
Mrs, Nebergall received a bachelor's degree in art education from
Southern Methodist University in 1951 and a master's in psychology
from SMU in 1954. She moved from Dallas to Norman a year later,
and in April of 1958 she married Roger Nebergall in Davenport, Iowa.
From 1959 to 1964 she taught at Wilson Elementary School and in
1965 she received a doctoral in educational psychology from the
University of Oklahoma. She then served as a member of the faculty
at Oklahoma City University until 1967. In 1968 she moved to Champaign,
Ill. She returned to Norman in June of 1989.
Mrs. Nebergall was a member of University Lutheran Chapel and the
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Champaign. She also was a member of
the society of Sigma XI.
She is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Madelon Carmack
of Norman; a sister, Ruth Lloyd of Tuscaloos, Ala.; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
