Francis Chris Pearce, 65. 4400 W. Main St.., died Friday night in
Norman Municipal Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack
at the Moose Lodge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Michael's Episcopal Church
with the Rev. Philip S. Crow of St. Christophers Episcopal Church,
Midwest City, officiating. Burial will be in the Noble IOOF Cemetery
with McMahan's Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Pearce was born March 4, 1915, in Noble and was a graduate of
Noble High School. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma
with a master's degree in both music education and education. He
taught instrumental music at Velma High School, Wilson Rexroat High
School, and Marietta High School. He then was an assistant counselor
of men at OU from 1949 until 1952 and was administrator of men's
resident counsel program, training and supervising a staff of 40
counselors. He then taught fifth grade at Wilson Elementary School
and retired in May 1977 after 25 years of teaching.
He also was a skilled piano technician accredited by the Piano
Technician's Guild, developed major and minor fields in psychology,
guidance, counseling and teaching vocal and instrumental music
courses and invented and produced teaching aids for mathematics.
He taught private music students, played in several bands, and was
a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, Oklahoma Concert
Band and Symphony Orchestra and St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include several cousins.
