Mary Ann Stone, 85, of Norman, died Saturday, Oct. 14, in Norman.
Gravesite services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the
Norman IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Ted Miller officiating.
Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Stone was born June 7, 1915, in Wagoner, to Sidney Albert and
Zella Belle Sneed Watters. Moving to Norman as a teen-ager, she
graduated from Norman High School. She worked with the U.S.O. in
Madison, Wis., during World War II, where she met Hoy Nelson Stone.
They were married soon after the war was over. Mrs. Stone graduated
from the Univeristy of Oklahoma with a B.A. and a master's in music.
She taught In John Adams Elementary School for a number of years.
Mrs. Stone was a former member of the O.E.A. and N.E.A. She was
a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Mary Jo Stone
Bookman of Zurich, Switzerland; a sister, Mrs. JoNell Luttrell, widow of
the late Jack Luttrell, of Norman; a sister-in-law, Mrs, Grace Watters,
widow of the late Harold Watters, of Norman; a brother, John Watters of
Virgnia Beach, Va.; a cousin, Dee Dee Hall of Oklahoma City, and a
number of neices and nephews.
