Elsie Rapier Taylor, 84, died at Norman on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Services for the Norman educator are planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday in Primrose Chapel, with the Rev. W. Glenn Doak, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

Born in the State of Washington on May 2, 1908, she was the daughter of Cecil and Elsie Rapier. She married Joe Taylor at Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1930.

A retired elementary school teacher, Mrs. Taylor taught school for three years in Washington and also served as a school principal. After moving to Norman 60 years ago, she taught for five years at an experimental pre-school in the College of Education at the University of Oklahoma, and for 17 years in the Norman Public School System.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Wabukani, Book Review and University of Oklahoma Faculty Clubs, and the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Joe of the home, and her sister, Louise Guay of Chehalis, Wash.

Mrs. Taylor had a fishpond in her living room which I thought was real cool. She loved art and encouraged me to draw horses which I loved. I had a picture that the Norman Transcript took at one time of me sketching a horse. She was a teacher who loved her students. ~Martha Springs~
