Services for Helen Driskill Woodrow Armstrong, 88, died January 31,
2008. She was born Spetember 8, 1919 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to
J.E. & Berniece Driskill. Helen attended Pauls Valley Schools and
graduated Pauls Valley High School in 1938, going 12 years without
missing a day. She attended East Central College in Ada and taught
school in rural Pauls Valley. In 1940, she married W.F. Woodrow.
Helen and W.F. had four children, Vickie, Willa, Bryce and Jami.
They lived in Norman most of their married years.
In 1962, Helen returned to her education and graduated from the
University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
She later earned her masters at OU. She taught in the Norman
Public Schools from 1962 until she retired in 1981.
In 1971 Helen married Harold L. Armstrong and they lived in
Norman. Harold preceded Helen in death on August 21, 2007.
Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 65
years. She had many friends and relatives who loved her and will
miss her.
Helen's husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded
her in death. Helen is survived by her four children, Vickie DeMik and
husband James DeMik of Dallas, Willa Patterson of Dallas, Bryce
Woodrow and wife Elizabeth of Norman, Jami Fullerton and husband
Sam of Tulsa and one step-son, Mike Armstrong and wife Frances
of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by five grandchildren, one
great grandson and two step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Norman at 2 p.m.
on Monday February 4, with Dr. Lavon Brown officiating. Burial will be
at the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
