After graduating from O.U. with a degree in political science, I drove to Washington D.C. with a friend to look for work. My first job was running an elevator in the U.S. Capitol, followed by a short stint as a receptionist for a U. S. Senator. I then moved into an analyst position with the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, and eventually became a Civil Rights Investigator, which provided me with the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. I lived in San Francisco during the 80's and treasure that experience. I moved back to Washington D.C. for career advancement in 1989 and retired two years ago as Deputy Director for Civil Rights for the U.S. Forest Service. Shortly after I married my husband, Tom, in 1998, we traveled to Russia and adopted our now ten year old son, Nicholas. He is the light of my life. We live in beautiful Alexandria, Virginia, right outside of Washington D.C.
I still get home to Norman at least annually to visit my Dad and am always flooded by memories of growing up in such a great place.
