Services for Don N. Vickburg, 39 of Norman will be at
2 p.m. Monday at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church with the Revs. Phil Fenn and Wayne Coffin
officiating.
Vickburg died Saturday in Baptist Medical Center in
Oklahoma City after a brief illness.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetary under the direct-
ion of Little's Funeral Home of Purcell.
Born May 21, 1943 in Tulsa, Vickburg moved to Norman
in 1961. He was a graduate of Central High School in
Tulsa. He received his bachelor of arts degree in counseling
and administration in 1966. He taught in the Norman Public
Schools in the areas of chemistry and counseling from 1967
to 1973, when he became principal of Longfellow Middle
School.
He was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church, a Phi Delta Kappa and a member of OEA and NEA.
Survivors include his wife, Jan of the home; a son, Jonathan,
also of the home; his parents, Carl and Margaret Vickburg of
New Orleans; a brother Carl of Bartlesville; and a sister, Janet
Gillett of Orlando, Fla.
Bearers include Frank McFarland, George Williamson, Phil
Parrish, Randy Henght, Phil DeBerry and John Yarrington.
The family has designated the Oklahoma Medical Research
Foundation for research in diabetes or Camp Sweeney in
Gainesville, Texas as appropriate for expressions of sympathy.
Friends may call at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral time.
